At EqualTo, we host weekly meetings that involve our whole team; however, you may want to hold an All Hands meeting every quarter depending on your company.
As a remote-first company, we always hold our company-wide meetings online. However, if you have a smaller company–or a bigger meeting room–you might prefer to hold these meetings in person. No matter which format they take place in, All Hands meetings will hugely benefit your company and your employees.

It’s great for employees to see the company on a wider scope and enhance the idea of reaching a common goal. It also gives the opportunity for cross-collaboration: if someone from one department can help another on a specific project. For example, in Marketing, I enjoy bouncing my ideas off other colleagues I don’t often work with and getting their feedback on the marketing campaigns we have just launched.
An All Hands meeting is the perfect time to share exciting company news with the team and boost the overall team energy.
However, it is also a great time for transparency and to let the team know if there is any bad news or big changes. Company-wide meetings have been especially important for companies affected by downturns. Economic cuts and changes to the ICPs, for example, need to be announced to the whole company at the same time so there is no confusion and miss communication among teams.
If one of your team members scored a great deal or implemented a new feature to your software, for example, they deserve to be credited. A Harvard Business Review study showed that employees who have their work recognized have increased motivation and overall improvements in performance– not to mention better well-being.
What better place to showcase these achievements than at the All Hands meeting? This could also motivate other employees to aim higher.
Sometimes it is easy for employees to get caught up in their own team projects that they forget about the overall company goals, values, and vision. An All Hands Meeting is a good time to reiterate their importance.
Furthermore, if there are any updates to these goals, values, and vision, like in reason 2, letting your employees know about these updates simultaneously is essential for clarity and transparency.
An All Hands meeting is also a great opportunity to encourage employees to bring their own points to the table regarding company-wide matters.
A company-wide meeting is a great chance for people to ask questions about any topic. In our meetings, employees have the option to voice a question in the meeting or, if they prefer, write a question in our Slack group. Using Slack also ensures that everyone’s questions are answered before moving onto the next topic.
Especially in a remote-first company like EqualTo, getting the team together is an important reminder that we are all moving towards the same goal. If you have a smaller team, it is also nice to catch up on how everybody is doing. Similarly to an All Hands meeting, it is a great idea to get the team together on an offsite to really strengthen the company culture.
